Their Best Bud

Girls and horses. There has always been a mutual attraction. Even Barbie has her own horse. Same goes for Hailey. She loves horses and wants to learn to become a good rider. Ol' Bud is a roping horse who has worked hard and has now earned his semi-retirement. He spends his days grazing on good feed and dreaming about the ones that got away. Bud is also an overprotective, patient, grandkid guarding, experienced animal. He understands the need to take it slow with his young riders.

Hailey is a natural in the saddle. She practices her balance by keeping her arms out straight and doesn't miss a beat. Ol' Bud senses her relaxed manner and working together they are going to turn Hailey into a great horsewoman(girl).

Nathan is a bit more cautious and Bud can sense it so he takes care of Nathan at a slow and steady pace.

At the end of their ride, Grandpa Scott told them that the reason we were given Bud was because he bucked too many cowboys off. Hailey and Nathan believed the joke and it didn't even phase them. They trust Bud and he trusts them. That's what true horsemanship is all about.

A Boy, A Board, and A Bad Injury

From This: Beautiful Hawaiian Beaches, Friends and 10 Days ahead to enjoy it all.

To This: Its all fun and games until someone tears an ACL. Mikey wasn't in Hawaii more than 24hours when he was long boarding and tore his ACL. The docs in Hawaii could not figure out what he had done, so we got him back home and made an appointment with a doctor here. After weeks of diagnostics and physician vacations, surgery was scheduled.

Very colorful and swollen. Its been 5 days since surgery. Rehab to start soon. Doc says 9 months to full recovery. Good thing he has youth on his side.

To Be Continued . . . . . .
